The Regulating the Game (RTG) 2026 conference has confirmed that Jamie Nettleton, a leading figure in gambling law and Past President of the International Masters of Gaming Law (IMGL), will serve on the judging panel for the inaugural RTG Global Awards.

Set to be presented at the Gala Dinner on 10 March 2026 in Sydney, the awards aim to spotlight leadership, innovation, and excellence across safer gambling, compliance, financial crime prevention, integrity, and community contributions. The prestigious event forms part of the sixth edition of Regulating the Game, a globally recognised conference focused on regulatory advancement and strengthening industry integrity.

A Focus on Leadership, Compliance, and Community Impact

The RTG Global Awards are designed to celebrate achievements in key areas that shape the future of gambling regulation. Categories include recognition for principled leadership, standout harm minimisation efforts, excellence in compliance and risk management, and the development of innovative RegTech solutions.

They will also honour community initiatives that demonstrate measurable social impact and spotlight rising professionals under 40 who are making significant contributions to safer gambling and regulatory excellence. This initiative reflects the growing emphasis on ethical leadership and the evolving demands placed on the gaming sector to uphold robust compliance standards while fostering community well-being.

IMGL’s Global Role and RTG’s Expanding Impact

Jamie Nettleton’s appointment is a testament to his prominence in the legal and regulatory landscape. As a Partner at Addisons in Sydney, Nettleton advises a wide range of clients, including land-based and online operators, gaming machine manufacturers, wagering platforms, and private investors, particularly those navigating the complexities of Australia’s highly regulated market. His expertise is widely recognised in international legal rankings, particularly for issues related to licensing, compliance, consumer protection, and advertising within the gambling industry.

Beyond that, the partnership is a testament to the pivotal role of IMGL, a non-profit association made up of over 300 legal and regulatory experts worldwide. IMGL continues to drive global standards through its renowned conferences and Masterclass series, which deliver essential education on gambling law and compliance issues across major jurisdictions. As part of RTG 2026, IMGL will host a dedicated Masterclass, focusing on the most pressing legal and regulatory challenges shaping the global gaming landscape.

Paul Newson, founder of RTG and Principal at Vanguard Overwatch, noted that the inclusion of Jamie Nettleton and IMGL reinforces the calibre, credibility, and global significance of the awards. RTG 2026 will also feature expanded exhibitions and the return of the dynamic “Pitch!” event at the Sydney Opera House, promising a world-class platform for regulatory leaders, compliance experts, and innovators.
